My move from India to the UK

I was six years old when I moved from India to the UK. Even though I was pretty young, I still remember that day clearly. Our journey started in Bangalore, where I was born. I was really excited when my parents told me we were moving to a new country. They said it would be colder and that people spoke with different accents. We flew with Air India — first to Mumbai, then to London. It was the longest flight I’d ever been on, and I spent most of it trying to stay awake, watching movies and asking my parents a million questions about what life in the UK would be like. I didn’t fully understand what it meant to move to another country, but I knew it was a big deal. I imagined London would look like the cartoons I watched — castles, red double-decker buses, and people wearing fancy hats. When we landed, everything felt different: the air, the buildings, the roads, even the smell. I missed my grandparents, my school, and the house I grew up in, but I was also curious about my new life. My parents told me I’d start a new school, meet new people, and try new foods. It was a lot to take in, but part of me was excited. Looking back now, that move shaped who I am. It was the beginning of a whole new chapter. I’m now building a website to share my story, help me with university applications — and maybe even get a little bit of attention while I’m at it.
